About Slash

Saul Hudson, better known today as Slash, was born in Hampstead, London. His grandmother gifted him his first guitar when he was 15 years old, and he couldn’t get enough of it! With fervent dedication, he spent up to 12 hours a day teaching himself to play—by ear! Eventually, he made the daring decision to leave high school and chase his musical ambitions.

His unique sound and style quickly set him apart, helping him land a role as the lead guitarist for Guns N' Roses. In short time, his work with GNR catapulted him into the limelight, beginning with the release of Appetite for Destruction in 1987. Anchored by tracks like "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Welcome to the Jungle," the album soared to the top of the Billboard 200

Beyond Guns N' Roses, Slash lent his talents to Velvet Revolver, a supergroup he formed with Dave Kushner, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, and Scott Weiland. He has been part of many notable collaborations, showcasing his versatility with B.B. King, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Carole King, Lenny Kravitz, Rod Stewart, Rihanna, and others.

In 2011, Slash was featured in Rolling Stone’s list of “The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.” He shares space on the Rock Walk of Fame with Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, and Jimmy Page, and Velvet Revolver’s “Fall to Pieces” earned him a Grammy for Best Rock Song in 2005. In 2012, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Guns N' Roses.

With a career that spans over four decades, Slash is not just resting on his laurels. In addition to his legendary musicianship, his legacy is defined by consistent hard work and philanthropic efforts. In 2024, he organized the S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival to promote peace, demonstrating inspiration through influence and showing how one man can help shape the future.

  • April 23, 2016: Slash's highly anticipated return to Guns N' Roses at Coachella 2016 was a momentous occasion! After two decades of tension between members, the reunion delighted long-time fans, and the set attracted a new generation of listeners.

  • March 10, 2024: At the 96th Academy Awards, Ryan Gosling, Mark Ronson, Slash, and the Kens brought the house down with “I’m Just Ken” from Barbie, the 2023 Comedy/Fantasy film about Mattel’s most famous doll. The performance was nothing short of spectacular!
