About Goose
Goose kicked off their musical run when singer and guitarist Rick Mitarotonda, bassist Trevor Weekz, and drummer Ben Atkind transitioned away from their former group, Vasudo, and decided to make creating a fresh sound their full-time focus. Emerging from Norwalk, Connecticut, they quickly carved out a niche on the groove and jam scene with an eclectic mix of indie rock, jazz, funk, folk, and progressive rock.
Their 2016 debut album, Moon Cabin, served as the foundation from which they built a reputation as a must-see live act. By the time 2019 rolled around, Goose was the talk of the town. They attracted significant attention for their show at the Allman Brothers Peach Music Festival in Pennsylvania, and their annual Goosemas event pulled in a sellout crowd at the Wall Street Theater in their hometown.
Of course, that’s when the pandemic struck. For a relatively new jam band, whose relevance almost depends on live performances, this could have spelled disaster. However, innovative as always, Goose organized The Bingo Tour, a series of eight concerts streamed online from a barn in Connecticut. The event grossed more than $100,000 and kept the group on everyone’s radar until venues reopened.
Bookings at major festivals followed, with gigs at Boston Calling, the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, and the Sweetwater 420 Fest garnering acclaim. By 2022, they were headlining iconic stages. They played at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall in June 2022, Colorado’s spectacular Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre in August 2022, and Nashville’s highly revered Ryman Auditorium in April 2023.
Looking forward, Goose is gearing up to keep the momentum going. Despite the departure of founding member Ben Atkind in 2023, the addition of drummer Cotter Ellis has injected new life into the lineup. Rumor has it they are set to shake things up and push their sound into new territories, and their tours are sure to keep fans coming back for more. Don’t miss out! Catch this talented collective in action.

Live Moments That Made Headlines
Goose has consistently dazzled audiences with their electrifying live performances. Known for completely immersive sets, they create unforgettable and unmistakable moments that resonate far beyond the confines of concert halls and festival grounds they’re played in. These examples have been among their most brilliant and buzzed-about appearances:
-
July 27, 2019: At the Peach Music Festival in Pennsylvania, Goose delivered a set that raised their standing in the jam band community. Their version of Echo & the Bunnymen’s "The Killing Moon" set a high-spirited tone, and their captivating cover of Peter Gabriel’s "In Your Eyes” was a standout.
-
January 17–18, 2020: During Dead & Company's Playing in the Sand concert vacation experience in Mexico, Goose was invited to perform a surprise set. Despite inclement weather cutting their time short, their renditions of "Atlas," "Doc Brown," and "Butter Rum" left a lasting impression.
-
June 25, 2022: Goose's sold-out two-night debut at Radio City Music Hall in New York City was nothing short of astonishing. On night two, in addition to their regular robust show, the group was joined by folk-rock royalty, as Trey Anastasio of Phish and Father John Misty for a spectacular third set.
-
August 18, 2022: An appearance at the renowned Red Rocks Amphitheatre was the realization of a dream. The set progression and mastery of the massive audience were indications of Goose’s growth. They even treated fans to covers of The National’s “Bloodbuzz Ohio” and Moniker’s “Milestone 2.”
-
July 1, 2023: At Ohio's Resonance Festival, Goose teamed up with Jake Cinninger and Joel Cummins of Chicago’s Umphrey's McGee for "Empress of Organos.” This collaboration on the Moon Stage underscored their appeal and illustrated the respect among peers within the jam band genre.
