About Kygo
Kygo, born Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, has risen to prominence as one of the leading figures in electronic music. Starting piano lessons at the age of six, he built an early foundation, initially considering himself more a pianist than a producer. However, inspired by Swedish DJ Avicii, he began crafting digital tracks in his mid-teens using Logic Studio and a MIDI keyboard, teaching himself through YouTube tutorials.
His dedication led him to leave Heriot-Watt University, where he was pursuing a business and finance degree, to follow his passion full-time. He developed a distinct tropical house sound, and it wasn’t long before “Younger” made waves and his remix of Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire” garnered international attention. This set the stage for more sonic exploration, and his 2014 single "Firestone" amassed millions of plays.
Kygo’s rising fame led to additional collaborations with major artists such as Coldplay, Tom Odell, Imagine Dragons, Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, and John Legend, further broadening his reach and cementing his appeal. In December 2015, he became the fastest artist to reach one billion streams on Spotify. By the time he dropped his debut album, Cloud Nine, in 2016, he had a fairly sizable fanbase.
Now, with International Dance Music Awards and countless other accolades to his name plus a reputation as a dynamic live performer, Kygo is a huge draw at arenas and festivals. His remixes of songs from Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and Marvin Gaye have highlighted his talent for reimagining classics, and as millions of listeners await his next masterpiece, he continues to push the boundaries of EDM.
