About Sublime with Rome
When Bradley Nowell, beloved Sublime frontman, tragically lost his life in 1996, fans had no idea what would become of the iconic ska-punk group they had grown to love. In 2009, they got their answer. Surviving members, bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh, joined forces with singer and guitarist Rome Ramirez to create Sublime with Rome. The collaboration aimed to both pay homage to Sublime's legacy and explore new musical frontiers.
The formation of the new band was both bittersweet and eagerly anticipated. Ramirez's inclusion brought a fresh dynamic, but they never forgot their roots and always included familiar songs in their live shows, which took on the same celebratory atmosphere as past performances. It was the culmination of a nostalgic journey for Sublime members and their supporters, and it gave them a way to honor Nowell while allowing themselves to enjoy a continuation of the music they cherished.
In the years since, despite facing the expected comparisons, Sublime with Rome has carved out its own niche. They have produced nearly as much material as their catalog contained when they started, and their distinctive sound has earned them legions of new fans who are just as passionate about the new project as they were about the original. They have successfully bridged the past with the present and lovingly extended the legacy of the man who inspired their existence.
