About Christopher Cross
Christopher Cross played in a San Antonio, Texas, cover band called Flash before setting off on a solo path that would lead to extraordinary acclaim. His eponymous debut found its place in pop-rock, signifying the start of a prodigious musical career. With soothing vocals and an aptitude for catchy melodies, Cross crafted a sound that captured the laid-back essence of the late '70s.
"Sailing" became his signature track, as it soared to the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. At the 23rd Annual Grammy Awards, Cross took home trophies for Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist. To this day, he remains the only artist in history to win the General Four categories in one night.
Hits like "Ride Like the Wind'' and "Never Be The Same" further cemented his status as a staple in adult contemporary music. "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" won him an Oscar for Best Original Song in 1981, and his sophomore effort, Another Page, included "Think of Laura" which was linked to the soap opera General Hospital during its heyday—the Luke and Laura era.
A permanent fixture in pop culture, Cross continued to produce new material at a prolific rate leading into the 21st century. He has since amassed a plethora of other accolades, affirming his impact on the entertainment industry. His dedicated fans can expect a continuation of his evolving legacy, involving both new music endeavors and performances that showcase his timeless talent.

-
August 28, 1970: Before he became a star in his own right, Christopher Cross was known for jamming with some of San Antonio’s best musicians. The day Deep Purple was scheduled to play a gig at the Jam Factory, Ritchie Blackmore fell ill and was unable to perform, so Cross, who was a huge fan, was asked to step in. Before the band flew to their next stop, he got to meet Blackmore, who thanked him for the favor.

April 30, 1980: Riding the momentum fueled by his first album, Cross was chosen to be the opening act for Fleetwood Mac during their Tusk Tour, He made an unforgettable live debut to a packed audience at the Portland Memorial Coliseum, setting the stage for a future full of stadium shows. In 1987, Christine McVie provided backing vocals for Cross on “Never Stop Believing” from the album Back of My Mind.
