The History of Jacksonville Jaguars Football
Established in 1995, the Jaguars didn’t take long to make a splash. In their first season, they found themselves in the playoffs as a Wild Card team. By the end of the following year, they’d gone as far as the AFC Championship. Even though the New England Patriots walked away with the win, just being in the mix was a remarkable achievement for Jacksonville’s new franchise.
The late 1990s saw the club as a formidable contender, with multiple playoff appearances and superstars like Mark Brunell and Fred Taylor making a memorable impact. Resilience and competitive spirit became defining characteristics of the organization, and they made it back to the 1999 AFC Championship Game. Unfortunately, victory slipped through their fingers once again, as the Tennessee Titans outscored them 33–14.
The journey of the beloved Jags reflects the typical ebb and flow of professional football, filled with highs, lows, and the promise of future triumphs. Although they’ve faced challenges and endured rebuilding phases, their passionate fan base and commitment to community have remained steadfast.
As the team continues its pursuit of the ultimate prize, you can witness the greatest moments right from the stands. All you need to do is choose your dates and purchase Jaguars tickets, then head to the stadium to cheer Jacksonville on to that elusive title!
The Jaguars Football Schedule
NFL fans know there’s nothing like being at a live game, and getting there starts with the schedule. Each year, the anticipation builds, until the new docket finally drops, and they can analyze the competition and mark the most intriguing matchups on their calendars. Then, it’s a mad dash to score the best seats!
If you’re looking to get to the stadium this season, start with key rivals. The Jaguars have a few, including a divisional battle with the Titans that began in 1999. In a news conference between the aforementioned AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl XXXIV, coach Jeff Fisher was asked how it felt to play in four home fields in four years while his team transitioned from Texas to Tennessee.
Fisher dropped a bombshell, replying, “Some would say we've had five home stadiums in four years if you include Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville.” And a bitter battle between the clubs was born. Jacksonville still feels the sting from that remark, and players have been working out their frustrations on the field ever since. Will they finally get their revenge? Only time will tell.
Then, there’s the clash with the Colts. Both teams entered the league as expansion franchises in 1995, and ever since, their encounters have been filled with high-stakes drama. Each meeting carries divisional implications and gives both squads the chance to make a statement.
Other notable pairings include intrastate opponents the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as well as AFC powerhouses that include the Pittsburgh Steelers. They’ve also had that AFC Championship score to settle with the Pats since 1995.
EverBank Stadium Information & Parking
EverBank Stadium opened in 1995 and serves as the Jags’ battleground and the hosting site for an array of events, from college football to thrilling monster truck rallies. This versatile venue holds over 67,000 spectators and sits against the picturesque backdrop of the St. Johns River.
Its no-nonsense design offers optimal views from every angle. The lowest tier allows attendees to immerse themselves in the action, while people seeking premium amenities can expect them from club seating. Upper-level seats always give a bird-eye view, and the Sky Patio, a rooftop terrace, provides a unique vantage point.
The home team parades in through a tunnel at section 106 and heads to their sideline that runs across Club 07–11. Visitors enter at section 113 and line up in front of Club 34–38. If you’re looking for an equally lively atmosphere during the game, check out the Bud Light Party Zone in the south end zone!
Accessibility Options
Inclusivity is a top priority at EverBank Stadium. ADA seating is strategically positioned throughout the venue to accommodate fans with various needs. Requests for relocation should be made at a Guest Services Booth, but moves are not guaranteed.
Guest Services is also available to help with assisted listening devices, charging stations, sensory bags, service animals, S.O.S. Smart Vending Machines, and more. Their booths are at sections 102, 123, 144, 410, and 436. First Aid Booths are on the concourse in sections 123, 410, and 436.
Tickets should contain information about the closest gate to each seat. Attendees in sections 140–150 and 432–441 are urged to use the elevator on the southeast corner of the facility, near Gate 4. Those in sections 113–133 and 217–229 should use one between Gates 2 and 3 on the north side of the arena, near the Ticket Office. Gate 1 is best for individuals in sections 106–106, 201–206, and 405–414 at the southwest corner.
Drop-off and pick-up points are located on the east and west sides of the building. Before kickoff, ticket holders can be dropped off at Gate 1 via Lot M at the Georgia and Adams Street Entrance or in Lot C off Gator Bowl Boulevard. Pick-ups should be arranged outside of Gate 1 or the closest gate after traffic dissipates, typically 30–45 minutes after the game ends.
Shuttle services begin in the 4th quarter, outside Gate 1 between Lots M and J, and offer transportation to the gates and sports complex lots. If using a stadium shuttle, note that only one companion per disabled will be accommodated, as carts have limited seating.
Parking & Alternative Transportation
All sports complex lot spaces are sold on a full-season basis, so finding parking on game day could be tricky. Reserve a place in advance when purchasing Jaguars tickets to eliminate the hassle of finding a lot with availability after you arrive in town.
For those considering alternative transportation options, the JTA Skyway Express is a convenient travel option, linking key points throughout Jacksonville. Additionally, water taxis on the Saint Johns River afford a more scenic approach.
Some hotels provide shuttle services for guests, and walking from nearby neighborhoods is a viable option, allowing you to appreciate the scenery on your way to EverBank Stadium.
Jaguars Tailgating & Game Day Traditions
Florida fans bring the heat to tailgating, turning the parking lots into a vibrant pre-game carnival. Grills sizzle, and the aroma of delectable dishes fills the air as the Jacksonville Jaguars football faithful gather for spirited celebrations.
Around the stadium, people decked out in teal, black, and gold engage in a variety of activities to amp up the excitement. Season pass holders may enjoy a full-service bar and grill in the Tailgaters Lot, but partying in spaces with cars is no longer allowed. Instead, tailgaters must reserve two spaces each, one for the vehicle and the other for fun.
The Fan Entertainment Zone, in the southwest plaza adjacent to Daily’s Place, is a popular spot before games. There, you’ll find plenty of food, music, and festivities to suit all ages. Play a giant game of cornhole or just toss around the ol’ pigskin. Kids can add their personal touches to the coloring mural wall or slide down the inflatable slide. You never know when a legend will stop by to sign autographs!
As kickoff draws near, you can almost feel the adrenaline increase as soon-to-be spectators flock to their seats. And when the Jags finally hit the field, the crowd erupts with their signature "DUUUVAL,” calling out the Florida county that has fallen in love with hometown football.
Be part of the frenzy! Secure your Jaguars tickets today, and immerse yourself in the beloved traditions that make every game day experience unforgettable.
