• Jim Baechtold (1948–1952): Drafted by the Baltimore Bullets 2nd overall in 1952, Baechtold had a notable NBA career with the Bullets and Knicks, including an All-Star selection in 1953. At Eastern Kentucky, he was a scoring sensation, leading the Colonels to multiple conference titles and setting several scoring records.

• Garfield Smith (1966–1968): Smith, drafted in the 1968 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics, was a force at Eastern Kentucky, known for his rebounding and defensive skills. In the NBA, he contributed solidly to the Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks, showcasing his abilities at the professional level.
