About P.O.D.

P.O.D., short for Payable on Death, emerged in the early 1990s from San Diego, California. Initially, friends Wuv Bernardo and Marcos Curiel began holding jam sessions, followed by forays into private parties performing metal covers. However, they did not officially have a vocalist until Sonny Sandoval, a rapper, singer, and songwriter, was added to the mix. That’s when the band truly took shape, and a fusion of friendship and shared faith laid the groundwork for their unique sound.

Their breakthrough came with the release of The Fundamental Elements of Southtown, which propelled them to mainstream success and earned them a platinum certification. However, it was their subsequent album, Satellite, that cemented their place in music history. It soared to triple platinum status, buoyed by hit singles like "Alive" and "Youth of the Nation." It wouldn’t always be smooth sailing though; from lineup changes to major-label deal fallout, the group has weathered its fair share of challenges.

In 2021, drummer and founding member Wuv Bernardo had to drop out of the Satellite 20th Anniversary Tour for personal reasons, and hasn’t been seen with the band since. Still, P.O.D.’s resilience and commitment to their craft have remained steadfast as they gear up for more new music and public appearances with Traa Daniels on bass. Fans can expect them to continue pushing boundaries and delivering the signature sound that has captivated audiences for over three decades.
