About The Avett Brothers
In 2001, talented siblings Scott and Seth Avett, who had been playing music together since childhood, joined forces with bassist Bob Crawford and emerged from Concord, North Carolina as The Avett Brothers. Using what was learned from their punk-inspired past, they became pioneers in the folk-rock scene, releasing their first album, Country Was, and heading out on tour to promote it.
By the end of 2003, they had developed a partnership with Dolph Ramseur, a local label owner who had become a fan and worked with them on the release of A Carolina Jubilee. Cellist Joe Kwon was added to the lineup in 2007, and their 2009 album, I and Love and You, marked a turning point. It was the first release to feature Mike Marsh on drums, and it soared to number one on the Billboard Folk Albums chart.
The Avett Brothers have garnered widespread recognition, including Americana Music Honors for Emerging Artist of the Year (2007) and Duo/Group of the Year (2011), as well as Best Americana Album Grammy nods for The Carpenter (2013) and True Sadness (2017). As they continue to tour and connect with fans worldwide, they remain steadfast innovators and beloved entertainers.
