In addition to the University of Central Florida men’s and women’s basketball games, the facility hosts comedy shows, concerts, and other events. On its north side, the Venue at UCF, a 1,400-seat multi-purpose facility, is the home of Orlando Valkyries professional volleyball.

Notable University of Central Florida Basketball Players

• Bennie Shaw (1974–1976): A talented guard who scored 1,238 points in just two seasons, Shaw was the first player from UCF (Florida Tech) drafted into the NBA. In 2009, he was inducted into the UCF Athletics Hall of Fame. He now runs Florida Comets AAU Basketball, which he founded, and helps disadvantaged high school students prepare for success.

• Jermaine Taylor (2005–2009): An All-Conference USA pick, Taylor was chosen by the Washington Wizards as the 32nd overall pick in 2009 but was subsequently traded to the Houston Rockets. The explosive guard played in the NBA for three seasons and was renowned for his dynamic play and scoring ability. 

• Keith Clanton (2009–2013): Clanton, a skilled forward/center, excelled in rebounds and blocks, which made him a key contributor in college basketball and prepared him for a professional career overseas. He was the rebounding leader in the BCL and GBL in 2017 and earned championships with the Baloncesto Superior Nacional in 2015 and the Bulgarian NBL in 2018. 

• Tacko Fall (2015–2019): Born in Dakar, Senegal, Fall moved to the U.S. at age 16. At UCF, he was a dominant defensive force and was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2017. In addition to his talent, his height (7’6”), reach, and wingspan caught the attention of the Boston Celtics, who signed him in 2019. He has since moved on to the Chinese Basketball Association.

• Taylor Hendricks (2022–2023): When he started with Central Florida, Hendricks was not viewed as an NBA prospect, but after multiple AAC Rookie of the Week honors, people began to take notice of the 6’9” power forward. He was selected by the Utah Jazz with the 9th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, making UCF history as the highest draft pick and the first lottery pick.
