Hollywood Bowl Tickets From GoTickets
The chandeliers are stars. The ceiling is the sky. And the stage sits in a natural amphitheater carved into the Hollywood Hills, framed by California oaks and a shell so iconic it might be the most recognizable silhouette in all of live music. This is the Hollywood Bowl — the largest natural amphitheater in the United States, the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic for over a century, and the outdoor concert venue against which every other is measured. Since 1922, 17,500 fans at a time have spread picnic blankets on the hillside, uncorked wine as the sun dips behind the ridgeline, and watched the greatest performers on Earth — from The Beatles and Ella Fitzgerald to Yo-Yo Ma and Billie Eilish — take the stage under an open Los Angeles sky. The 2026 season is historic: Gustavo Dudamel's farewell as LA Phil Music Director, a Foo Fighters collaboration with the orchestra, Paul Simon, Andrea Bocelli, The Roots, Muse, the legendary July Fourth Fireworks Spectacular with the Beach Boys, and a three-night tribute to John Williams — all on the newly christened John Williams Stage. Secure your Hollywood Bowl tickets from GoTickets and experience the venue that has defined the sound of summer in Los Angeles for more than 100 years. Every purchase is backed by our buyer guarantee.

History of the Hollywood Bowl
The Hollywood Bowl sits in a natural depression in the Hollywood Hills that was known in the early 1900s as Daisy Dell — a bowl-shaped clearing in Bolton Canyon prized for its natural acoustic properties. Community concerts had been held informally in the dell for years before civic leaders decided to make it official. In 1919, the Theatre Arts Alliance, led by patron Christine Wetherill Stevenson, purchased 59 acres in the canyon for $47,500. On July 11, 1922, the Hollywood Bowl opened to the public with a performance by the Los Angeles Philharmonic — no shell, no permanent seating, just wooden benches set on a steep hillside and an audience captivated by live orchestral music under the California sky.
What followed was one of the great architectural experiments in American performance history. In 1926, Myron Hunt — the architect behind the Rose Bowl — designed the first permanent band shell. It was deemed acoustically unsatisfactory and demolished after one season. Lloyd Wright, son of Frank Lloyd Wright, designed replacement shells in 1927 and 1928, both of which met similar fates. The fourth shell, designed by Allied Architects in 1929, finally gave the Bowl its enduring silhouette — the concentric arches that have become one of the most recognizable structures in Los Angeles. A 106-foot reflecting pool separated the stage from the audience for decades, its 100,000 gallons of water creating a dramatic visual barrier. In 1972, the pool was drained and converted into the coveted Pool Circle seating section — the name stuck, even though the water did not. In 2003–04, Frank Gehry led a sweeping renovation that modernized the stage, backstage facilities, and the iconic shell while preserving its historic character.
Over more than a century, the Hollywood Bowl Hollywood has hosted a staggering roster of legends: The Beatles performed to 18,000 frenzied fans in 1964, transported to and from the venue in a Brinks armored truck. Jimi Hendrix played a show so electrifying that 2,500 fans rushed the stage and dove into the reflecting pool. The Doors performed for an audience that included four of the five Rolling Stones. Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Luciano Pavarotti, and Barbra Streisand all left their mark on the stage. In 2026, the Bowl enters its 104th season with the LA Phil under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel — who will conduct his final performances as Music & Artistic Director before departing for the New York Philharmonic — a new state-of-the-art L-Acoustics sound system, the opening of the Terri and Jerry Kohl Artists Pavilion, and a stage newly christened in honor of John Williams. The legend continues. Grab your Hollywood Bowl tickets at GoTickets and take your seat in one of the most iconic venues on Earth.
The Hollywood Bowl Experience
Picnicking, Wine, and the Sunset
A night at the Hollywood Bowl begins long before the first note. Gates and parking lots open four hours before showtime, and the pre-show ritual is as beloved as the performance itself. Spread a blanket on one of the terraced picnic areas, uncork a bottle of wine, unpack cheese and charcuterie, and watch the sun set behind the Hollywood Hills as the amphitheater slowly fills. You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages — and most regulars do, often elaborately. On-site dining options are also available at the Plaza Marketplace, including pre-ordered picnic boxes and concession stands throughout the venue. It's the most civilized concert experience in America, and the atmosphere is utterly unique — casual, communal, and magical as the sky fades from gold to violet to the deep black of a Los Angeles night studded with stars.
What to Know Before You Go
The Hollywood Bowl is an outdoor venue, so dress in layers — summer evenings in the Hollywood Hills can start warm and cool off considerably after sunset. Sunscreen is wise for afternoon and early evening arrivals. Binoculars and seat cushions (the benches can be hard) are popular among regulars. Gates open 90 minutes before showtime, but the picnic areas open four hours early. The 2026 season debuts a brand-new L-Acoustics sound system, promising a dramatic upgrade to the listening experience from every seat in the house. Individual surtitle screens are not available — this is an amphitheater, not an opera house — but the two large video screens flanking the shell ensure clear sightlines from the back rows. Assistive listening devices are available.
Parking & Transportation
Parking at the Hollywood Bowl is famously challenging — and understanding the system ahead of time can make or break your evening. All on-site lots use stacked parking, meaning your car will be blocked in by other vehicles and there is no early exit. Plan to stay until the end of the show and budget extra time for departure. Parking rates vary by lot, with Lot A offering valet or stacked parking, Lot D providing standard stacked parking, and Lot B serving as the Park & Ride and Shuttle hub with accessible parking only. Lot C is reserved for rideshare drop-off and pickup (no parking). All parking can be purchased in advance through JustPark or GoTickets — advance purchase is highly recommended, as lots sell out.
The smartest move for many fans is skipping the on-site lots entirely. The Hollywood Bowl Park & Ride shuttle service operates from multiple locations around Los Angeles — including Ovation Hollywood (formerly Hollywood & Highland), Ventura, and the Burbank Metrolink station — with round-trip fares available at a discount when purchased in advance. Departures begin 2.5 hours before showtime, and return buses start 20 minutes after the concert ends. The LA Metro B Line to Hollywood/Highland station is another popular option — the downhill walk back to the station after the show is far easier than the uphill trek up. More than a third of concertgoers use transit or shuttle options, and the Bowl strongly encourages it. Reserve your parking or shuttle pass early and enjoy the evening stress-free.
